GOVERNMENT: The Republic of Botswana is democratically ruled by President Seretse Khama Ian Khama. GEOGRAPHY: Botswana is a landlocked country, bordered by South Africa in the south, Zambia and Zimbabwe in the north, Namibia in the Northwest. CAPITAL: Gaborone is the capital of Botswana and also serves as a gateway into the country, along with Maun and Kasane.

CLIMATE: During the summer months between November and March, temperatures can reach well into the 90s during midday, declining slightly during afternoon showers. The winter months between May and August offer delightfully warm days, becoming chillier at sunset until dawn.
WHEN TO GO: While anytime of year is good to visit Botswana, the best time to view the game is from June through September, when the grass is dry and short, making it easier to see the game. January through March provides the opportunity to see the newborn babies and the beauty of a new earth after the rains. November through March is also the best time for bird viewing.
VISAS: US Citizens do not require a visa to enter Botswana. All visitors require a passport, return or onward tickets, and sufficient funds to cover their stay in Botswana.
