Facts about Mozambique

GOVERNMENT: Mozambique is a republic, led by President Armando Guebuza.

GEOGRAPHY: The island has some stunning natural attractions, such as the Bazaruto Archipelago with its string of beautiful islands, making it the ultimate diving and angling holiday destination. The country’s terrain is mostly coastal lowlands, with uplands in center and mountains in west.

CAPITAL: Maputo

CURRENCY: The local currency unit is the Meticais, however the USD and South African Rands are widely accepted. We advise taking USD to pay for any extras.

LANGUAGE: Portuguese

CLIMATE: Tropical. The dry season runs from April to September and this is when the climate is warm, sunny and beautiful during the day with cool evenings. October to March is the rainy season and the days are hot and humid.

WHEN TO GO: Anytime of year is perfect for visiting Mozambique.

VISAS: US Citizens are required to obtain visas in advance of travel to enter Mozambique. It’s advisable to check with us, before travel as they are subject to change.

CREDIT CARDS: Credit cards are accepted at the larger hotels, but facilities outside of the hotels are limited. It is best to carry Visa, Amex or Diners.
