Combining Vic Falls and Cape Town – New Direct Flights

by Sandy Salle on May 25, 2017

It’s now possible to fly from Cape Town to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) nonstop thanks to a brand new Kenya Airways service that kicked off on May 1st, 2017.

Operated three times a week (Monday, Thursday, Saturday), the flight takes just under three hours between two of Africa’s coolest travel destinations.

The southbound service departs Victoria Falls at 10:20 AM and arrives in Cape Town at 1:25 PM that afternoon. The northbound flight take off from Cape Town at 2:15 PM with arrival in Vic Falls at 5:10 PM.

For anyone visiting both of these iconic places on the same trip, these are our suggestions for the top things to do:

Top 5 Things To Do in Cape Town

  1. Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain and then hike back into town via the spectacular Platteklip Gorge Trail.

  1. Spend a day sipping Africa’s finest vintages in the Stellenbosch wine country, a 40-minute drive east of Cape Town.

  1. Soak up some surf, sun and sand at Clifton, the Cape Town equivalent of Malibu Beach, and definitely the place to see and be seen on the cape coast.

  1. Get up close and personal with the penguins at the Cape of Good Hope — but keep your distance from the cheeky baboons.

trip to South Africa

  1. Savor the continent’s best restaurant scene at internationally renowned eateries like Test Kitchen, Aubergine, Delaire Graff, Babel, Beluga and La Colombe.

Top 5 Things To Do at Victoria Falls

  1. Hike the falls! Amble down the Zimbabwe side between the David Livingstone Statue and Danger Point, or along the mist-shrouded Knife Edge Trail on the Zambia side.

  1. See the “Smoke that Thunders” from the air — on a scenic helicopter flight or dangling upside down on a bungee jump.

  1. Get out on the water on an adrenalin-pumping whitewater rafting or kayak expedition on the Zambezi River below the falls, or a mild-mannered sunset cocktail cruise on the upper reaches of the river above the falls.

  1. Enjoy cocktails at The Lookout Cafe, whilst watching the water rush down the gorge and gaze at the dare devils doing bungee, zipline and other adrenalin activities.

  1. Go on safari in nearby Hwange (Zimbabwe) or Chobe (Botswana) national parks, where African wildlife is on full and often spectacular display.

What beautiful pictures! Africa is so beautiful and there are so many parts to explore. It’s wonderful to hear that Kenya Airways is making it easier to get from place to place.

Thank you Diane. It really is beautiful, and as you say so many places to see. I just heard Kenya Airways got approved to do long distance, Nairobi to USA. Hopefully it comes to life! Take care and keep in touch.
