Have you always fantasized about experiencing Africa the same way David Livingstone and Samuel Baker did? Well, Selinda Explorer’s Camp can make your dreams come true.

Set along a remote region of Botswana’s wildlife-abundant Selinda Spillway, Selinda Explorer’s Camp brings guests through an authentic safari experience with the essence of luxury. Each of the camp’s four East-African-style tents were designed to bring guests closer to nature than ever before while providing extreme comfort, and modern amenities. And because there are only four tents at Selinda Explorer’s Camp, visitors experience the ultimate in exclusivity, personalized service, and hospitality.

As one of Africa’s newest accommodations, this camp opened its doors (or should I say canvas flaps) merely a few weeks ago (August 15, 2012 to be exact) and is bringing to life a new way of experiencing the African bush. Offered only as an exclusive-use camp, Selinda Explorer’s Camp can be booked by parties of eight or less (but you only need four individuals to book and pay to get the camp). Therefore, it’s perfect for large families or groups of friends or couples looking to enjoy a group trip.

See below for a breakdown of details for this camp to see if it’s right for you on your African safari vacation:

Accommodation Specifics:

Although this camp is designed with exclusivity and adventure in mind, it’s not for everyone. For individuals looking to experience adventure with a hint of luxury, this is an excellent option.

Each of the four custom-designed tents at Selinda Explorer’s Camp is equipped with Persian rugs, twin copper basins, outdoor bucket showers (hot water is delivered each morning) and toilet. The tents are all specious and equipped with an indoor vanity dressing area, furniture, and private verandah with a hammock. And for a real treat, guests can request brass baths to be placed on the bank of the Selinda Spillway, so that they can enjoy a relaxing and romantic game-viewing experience.

Location & Activities in the Selinda Reserve: At Selinda Explorer’s Camp, emphasis is placed primarily on relaxation. There is no rush to get out on early morning game drives and afternoon drives. Rather, guests enjoy the tranquility and abundant wildlife from the comfort of the camp, as well as canoe and walking safaris. Some of the wildlife famously spotted along the Selinda Spillway include elephant, lion, wild dog, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, egrets, wattled cranes, wild dog, zebra, wildebeest, hyena, impala, honey badger, aardwolf, and so much more!

In addition to exceptional game viewing from foot and canoe, guests can also choose to embark on day and night game drives. An expert guide is provided on all excursions and guests enjoy wholesome food throughout their stay.

Additional Information:

Access to the camp is via light aircraft to the Selinda airstrip, which is a one-hour drive from the camp. The camp is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Selinda main camp.

It’s also important to note that the camp is ecologically friendly as it’s run 100% on solar power and the primary activities are low-impact (canoe safaris and walking safaris, although game drives are offered).
