As I mentioned in last Thursday’s blog post, I’ve just returned home from an AMAZING trip to Botswana and Zimbabwe, guiding a group. At the beginning of our travels, we visited Botswana where we stayed at the wonderful Kings Pool Camp for a portion of our stay.

The journey to Kings Pool Camp began with a flight from Kasane to the Kings Pool landing strip. One of the members of the group I was guiding used to own and pilot his own plane, so he had a fantastic time in the cockpit with the pilot of our propeller aircraft. During the flight, we enjoyed a majestic birds-eye-view of the Chobe River with the Zambezi River in the distance. Being able to witness the sprawling scenery of Botswana with not a building in sight, is one of the most calming feelings and it reminds you that you are in one of the world’s last natural frontiers.

Below are some photographs I took during our airplane ride:

Upon arrival to Kings Pool Camp, we were greeted with refreshments and a warm welcome from the Camp’s managers and friendly staff before being escorted to our canvas and thatch luxury tents. Each of the nine tents that Kings Pool Camp boasts is outfitted with a private plunge pool, lounge, yoga area, and weights, making it super easy for us to get a workout in before a game drive or big dinner!

Each of the tents also featured en-suite facilities, including double showers and hand basins. There is even an outdoor shower on each tent, just in case you want to get some more game viewing in for the day!

The boutique-style of this camp is what makes it extremely appealing to discerning travelers. All of your needs and desires are met immediately and with great care. And for individuals who have specific dietary needs or preferences, Kings Pool Camp will make sure to accommodate your needs.

During our stay, we enjoyed some of the most fruitful game drive experiences through the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, where we observed dozens of elephant and wild dogs, as well as kudu, impala, giraffe, warthog, buffalo, and leopard.

Between and after game drives, our guides would set up a light snack for us as well as a variety of beverages. Before each game drive, you tell the staff which beverage you would like to enjoy between and after your game drives, and they’ll pack accordingly.

After a refreshing sundowner, it’s off to enjoy a delectable dinner beneath the Botswana stars or in the dining room area—we loved enjoying meals beneath the stars!
