Selinda Camp, nestled deep in  Okavango Delta’s Selinda Reserve in Botswana, is a very special safari camp for us and is a fantastic option for the traveler looking to celebrate a birthday, honeymoon, anniversary, graduation, or  general safari travel in five-star luxury.  Combining top of the line accommodation with amazing game viewing and opportunities for water-based activities, Selinda Camp is a dream destination.

Selinda Luxury Tented Suite

Selinda Camp is part of Great Plains Conservation’s Selinda Reserve  properties. Located on the eastern banks of Botswana’s Selinda Spillway, the waterway that connects the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti water system, the 300,000-acre Selinda Reserve is speckled with wildlife-rich floodplains and savannas.  Each of its complex eco-systems are home to a delightful mixture of wildlife, including the elusive lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, water birds, leopard and much more. Every day that you spend in the Selinda Reserve is a new day of spectacular adventure and wildlife observation.

In addition to exceptional game viewing, Selinda Camp is beloved for its unique synchronization of modern amenities and traditional tented ambiance.  With a blanket of treetops situated above the camp and the spillway reaching out at more than 180 degree views from the main area and tents, guests can enjoy the beauty of nature unfold before them.  Imagine taking a refreshing dip in the pool after a morning’s game drive with all the wonders of the spillway laid out before you.  The spacious main area offers many different spaces for relaxing and visiting with fellow travelers.  The staff is warm and inviting, tending to every need with prompt professionalism. And be sure to check out the wine cellar, with nearly all bottles ‘free’ to take and enjoy in the tent, poolside, at afternoon sundowners or with dinner.

Selinda Pool Deck

Each of Selinda Camp’s nine spacious tents is constructed of sturdy canvas, thatch roofing and is raised on wooden decks. Comfortable beds dressed in fine linen are draped with flowing mosquito nets to complete the romantic atmosphere. Ceiling fans, combined with roof vents, bring the African breeze in and cool the surroundings. For moments of reflection, a writing desk and lounge furniture provide a private respite. The large private verandah, extending into the bush, provides each tent with its own private slice of Africa. The extended en-suite dressing area and bathroom allow for privacy or an open-air feel. The dual basin vanity, deep stone bath and antique shower embody luxury. Hot and cold water are in ample supply.selinda_bathroom

Bookings are made on an all-inclusive so guests can enjoy daily morning and afternoon game drives, as well as gourmet cuisine and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at no additional cost.  And no visit would be complete without a relaxing massage on the  tent’s verandah set to the sights and sounds of the spillway.

Selinda is special and getting to Selinda Camp is special – you take a boat from the airstrip and get to see all sorts of game including hippos, elephants and lots of birds along the way.

One of our special places at Selinda is a little walk away from camp, but is your own little sanctuary – we called it the escape.  You can go here just to get away from it all.
