Through a Lens – Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest, Uganda

by Sandy Salle on November 29, 2017

Our wonderful clients, Rich and Mary, recently traveled to Kibale Forest in Uganda on their #thisisfifty birthday celebration trip.

To give you a glimpse into what a Chimpanzee safari is like, we’re going to share their photo journal with you.  (Thanks Mary!!)

Today, we went Chimp trekking in the Kibale National Forest. Our guide, Africano Kob, was amazing! (The gun is for fending off charging forest elephants.)

This guy came down to bid us farewell!  (We think he was very thoughtful to say goodbye.)

This poor guy, Byezingire, was caught in a snare yesterday.  Whilst watching him, the veterinary team showed up, so we decided to leave so the vet could make him better.

We learned from our chimp guide, Africano (who took these photos) that the snare was set to catch antelope for a local villager, and Byezingire was an innocent victim.  Byezingire was treated and we hope he is now fine.

After returning back to our lodge, we had a delicious lunch and then walked through Bigodi Swamp with our wonderful guide named Ben.

This is Dorothy.  What a beautiful little farmer.

This is such a beautiful country.

If you’re thinking of getting out of your normal routine, and going on a vacation where you get to really experience Africa, you should put Uganda on your bucket list.
