Famous for walking safaris and birding safaris, as well as traditional big game tours, Zambia is a nature-lover’s paradise. And within Zambia are some of Africa’s finest camps and lodges.

See below for some of the country’s most renowned accommodations:

Bilimungwe Bushcamp: Situated in South Luangwa National Park, Bilimungwe Bushcamp is surrounded by three water holes that are continuously bursting with wildlife. As you relax in one of the camp’s lounge chairs with a cocktail in hand, you’ll have the opportunity to witness leopard, elephant, and a wide array of bird species.

Guests at Bilimungwe Bushcamp enjoy several different wildlife viewing activities, including walking safaris, day game drives, night game drives, and relaxing sundowners on the river.

The camp is extremely intimate, with only four raised thatched rooms. Each of the rooms has its own private viewing deck and is decorated with locally crafted furniture and colorful works of art. The camp can hold up to 8 guests in total, making it perfect for an African family safari or multigenerational safari.

The camp is open from May through December.

Sausage Tree Camp: Located in the Lower Zambezi National Park of Zambia, Sausage Tree Camp has been recognized internationally as one of the best accommodations in the world. In fact, BBC Holiday Program voted for it as number one on their “Ten Best Luxury Destinations” list. Because the camp is located on the banks of the Zambezi River, guests witness a plethora of game, right from the comfort of their own luxury, Bedouin-style tents.

Accommodating up to 16 guests, Sausage Tree Camp’s beautifully appointed tents were designed with the simplicity of Zambian nature in mind. Each tent is secluded from its neighbor by towering sausage and mahogany trees.
