A trip to Uganda is truly one of the most rewarding journeys you could take for yourself!

From gorilla trekking to hiking adventures, wildlife viewing safaris, and birding excursions, Uganda is a nature lover’s paradise. And in addition to exciting activities, spectacular landscapes, and exotic wildlife, Uganda is also celebrated for its luxury lodges and accommodations.

Below are our top 5 favorites lodges for discerning travelers taking a trip to Uganda:

Bwindi Lodge: Part of the Volcanoes Safaris luxury lodge portfolios, Bwindi Lodge boasts 8 gorgeously appointed stone and timber bandas with thatch roofs. Each of the bandas is uniquely named after gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and feature en-suite bathroom facilities, spacious and comfortable beds, a private deck, and is designed with beautiful natural textures, fabrics, and hues.

The Bwindi Lodge is situated on a lush hill that overlooks the thick Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and stream and each of the bandas faces the forest canopy, enabling guests to witness some of the area’s most spectacular wildlife. Some of the animals guests frequently see from their rooms include gorillas, chimpanzees, and other monkeys.

The main lodge area features a fireside bar and lounge, which is the perfect setting for enjoying an evening cocktail and reminiscing about your gorilla trekking adventures from the day!

In addition to exceptional gorilla trekking, guests at the Bwindi Lodge can also enjoy spa treatments, forest walks, waterfall and river walks, community walks, inspirational performances from the orphanage dance group, and hikes along the Batwa Trail. So, as you can see, Bwindi Lodge is the ideal retreat for adventure and nature lovers!

The Boma Entebbe: Located in a charming suburb of Entebbe, The Boma is the perfect place to relax after arriving into Uganda and before heading to the remote reaches of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Murchison Falls.

This charming guesthouse features individually decorated suites that combine African décor with elegant European touches. Each room also features a private verandah, en-suite bathroom, and Wi-Fi.

Guests can enjoy the hotel’s swimming pool, gardens, and restaurant – exclusively for guests only.

For guests staying longer than an evening, The Boma Entebbe can arrange for a variety of activities, including bicycle rentals, golfing, and sunset cruises. The hotel can also arrange for visits to the beautiful Botanical Gardens, UWEC (the Wildlife Center), and Ngamba Island (a chimpanzee sanctuary).

Ndali Lodge: Located along the Bunyaruguru crater lake of Western Uganda, Ndali Lodge is a stunning countryside retreat. Each of the lodge’s quaint cottages can accommodate families and features en-suite bathroom facilities and a private verandah that overlooks the lush landscape.

Evenings at Ndali are truly enchanting with the dining area covered in twinkling candles and lanterns. For breakfast, guests can enjoy a traditional English breakfast on the lodge’s verandah that overlooks the lake.

Visitors to Ndali can enjoy visits to Kibale Forest National Park, which features the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa and is only a 45-minute drive from the lodge. Guests can also visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which is a community-based conservation project.

For guests wishing to stay on site, Ndali can provide local guides for a walk around the farm, a visit to the Mahoma Waterfall, or a boat ride for birding.

Nice to hear there are other options in Entebbe besides the Hotel. Some of my clients got very sick from the food at Bwindi Lodge a few years back. Hopefully they have changed things. Thanks for the info.

That’s a shame to hear, Lori! Our clients have had amazing experiences at Bwindi Lodge – I was there actually a little over a year ago and had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend to give it another try! 🙂
