When you dream of your ideal vacation, do you imagine yourself in a deep state of relaxation, being pampered in a breathtaking and remote setting? If so, an Africa safari vacation that includes spa treatments in the African bush is the ultimate trip for you.

Below are our favorite, luxury Africa safari spas to explore your senses whilst in the African bush:

1. Royal Malewane Bush Spa: As one of our favorite properties in all of South Africa, Royal Malewane not only has some of the finest luxury accommodations and South Africa safari tours for guests, but the property also boasts an exceptional spa experience. The property itself is located in a wildlife-clad game reserve that is adjacent to Kruger National Park, South Africa’s flagship park.

Treatments at the Royal Malewane Bush Spa incorporate local, natural ingredients and can take place in a variety of different settings, including the outdoor deck, private treatment rooms, or within your own suite or private deck. I recommend having your spa treatment just as the sun is beginning to set as your therapist will light candles around your treatment area outside. This is truly an enchanting and revitalizing treatment that you will remember for a lifetime.

The spa offers a variety of wellness treatments and also features a gym, sparkling heated lap pool, steam room, Jacuzzi, hot and cold African baths and private casitas for relaxation or treatments.

2. The Spa at Azura Quilalea Private Island: Located on the private island of Quilalea (an island off the coast of Mozambique), The Spa at Azura is a remote sanctuary surrounded by nothing but pristine, blue water, and canopying vegetation. The Quilalea property itself is comprised of 9 seafront villas, which means guests enjoy an extremely private and exclusive experience.

Spa treatments at Quilalea are designed to incorporate the soothing sounds of the ocean and nature into the experience, providing complete relaxation and tranquility to guests. Africa spa treatments at Azura can be enjoyed outdoors on a clifftop, on your private deck, or inside your villa.

One of my favorite aspects of the Spa at Azura is that all of the therapists only use natural ingredients in their treatments that have been sourced from Africa.

When visiting the spa, make sure to try their African Beginnings treatment, which is a traditional African ritual that begins with a skin polish, using apricot kernel and chamomile, vitamin E, and eucalyptus. After the polish it’s time for a mud or shea butter wrap. You can then enjoy a Tribal Traditions massage, which is a massage given to resemble the beating of African drums.

3. Mfuwe Lodge’s Bush-Spa: The location of the Mfuwe Lodge BushSpa within Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park is just one of the many reasons why discerning travelers flock to the award-winning BushSpa.

Situated in the remote Zambian wilderness, this boutique spa is nestled among a variety of eco-systems that provide rich natural music to the ears, an earthy aroma, and fantastic views. There is arguably no better place in the world to stimulate all five of your senses than at the BushSpa.

Just picture it: After an exciting Zambia safari tour in South Luangwa, you head back to the beautiful Mfuwe Lodge for a medley of revitalizing spa treatments. You begin with a Zambian reflexology foot massage on the spa’s private deck before melting into an herbal Jacuzzi, overlooking the wildlife abundant lagoon. There’s nothing else in the world like this experience.

4. David Livingstone Spa: Located in Livingstone, Zambia, the David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa overlooks the beautiful Zambezi River, which is celebrated for its plethora of residential wildlife. The lodge is a bit larger in size than the other accommodations mentioned in this post, but still offers guests an exceptional experience and amazing, award-winning spa treatments.

The spa offers a variety of treatments that include mud wraps, massages, facials, manicures, and more. When guests are not receiving revitalizing spa treatments they can enjoy Victoria Falls tours, Zambezi River sunset cruises, game viewing, and much more.

5. Bushman’s Kloof: Celebrated as being the premier 5-star spa lodge in South Africa, Bushman’s Kloof is a nature- and relaxation-lover’s paradise. This award-winning lodge and wellness retreat is situated in the breathtaking Cederberg Mountains of South Africa. Aside from its exceptional game viewing and lavish accommodations, Bushman’s Kloof offers a wellness getaway like no other. The spa prides itself on their “focus of the abundant, natural healing energy of the area.”

The spa features a variety of state-of-the-art facilities and treatments. Some of the features include four treatment rooms, the Crystal Steam Room (which features a huge block of quartz crystal, which is known for its healing energy), the Tranquility Lounge, the Riverside Gazebo (the perfect setting for outdoor spa treatments), rain showers, a fitness center, and more.

I have spent many relaxing hours at the Bush Spa at Mfuwe Lodge and highly recommend it. When arranging a visit to South Luangwa, setting aside time for the Bush Spa is essential!
