Okavango Delta

Situated in the Kalahari Desert and covering an area of approximately 5,600 square miles, the Okavango Delta is undoubtedly one of the most striking regions in Botswana and offers year-round beauty.

The Okavango is comprised of vast grass flats, low tree-covered ridges, and a widespread network of narrow waterways that open up into lagoons. Roaming the plains and treetops are hundreds of species of exotic birds, including the wattled crane, as well as large game such as elephants, zebras, buffalo, pangolin, sitatunga, hippo, buffalo, lion, red lechwe, and giraffes.

Surprisingly, the Okavango is not a delta at all, but rather an alluvial fan. Instead of discharging into a body of water as an authentic delta does, the Okavango’s channel filters into the sands of the Kalahari.

Whether you wish to embark on a honeymoon safari, Botswana family safari, or mother-daughter Botswana safari vacation, the Okavango Delta offers a spectacular setting for any occasion.
