There is something special about going on an African Safari Vacation that really stirs my soul. Being in the bush is so relaxing and energizing. I am free from my daily routine, and there are no phones to answer, no meals to prepare, no household chores. Just the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the calmness of the bush, the animals to keep me centered. I make a point to leave my computer, my blackberry, and all other forms of communication at home - it is a complete TECH-DETOX for me.

One of the very simple, but easily remembered pleasures of being on safari is the gentle knock and a welcoming "Good Morning" call at your door at 5.30am. Yes, you're still tired, but the smell of freshly baked biscuits and steaming Five Roses tea encourages me to rise. It's before sunrise, but I'm excited to be going on a game drive, hoping to see as many beautiful animals and birds as I possibly can. I carry a book with me and write down everything I see; it's a fun way to learn about each animal or bird when I return home. Whether I have the pleasure of witnessing these beautiful animals or not, it does not matter to me. What really gets me is being in an environment that is clean and clear of everyday routines. The Children of Africa Hills of Africa Travel is helping senior students from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, visit Africa in hopes of lending a hand to locals in need. Hills of Africa Travel is using the world-famous African Encounter travel group to arrange for these students to visit the South African (link to South Africa country page) township of Soweto, Robben Island, Cape Town, Red Hill Community, amongst others.
