Featuring Nairobi, Chyulu Hills, Laikipia, Masai Mara

11 nights/12 days - Itineraries start at USD$9,000 per person

Day 1 - Nairobi

Welcome to Africa! On arrival in Nairobi, you will need to clear Kenya Customs and Immigrations before proceeding to the Arrivals Hall where you will be met by your Hills of Africa representative. Look for your name on a sign. You will then be transferred by road to your hotel.

Ngong House

Ngong House is a private, serene and luxurious home located in the Karen Langata area of Nairobi. The lodge overlooks the Ngong Hills, and is only a few minutes away from what used to be Karen Blixen's coffee farm. Accommodation is mainly in luxurious Tree-houses designed with extreme comfort in mind. Every unit is different in design some have two levels with bedrooms upstairs and living areas on the lower floor raised 15 feet from the ground to gain an uninterrupted view of the Ngong Hills over unspoiled bush.

Dining at Ngong House is a delight. Breakfast and lunch are served in the garden under a canopy of acacia trees. Dinner is served in a half open, majestic, thatched rondavel wIth a grand fireplace, or in another secluded area of the lodge. Every night casual pre dinner drinks and "bitings" are served around the camp fire. A chance to meet other guests and to chat with your host Paul Verleysen.

Accommodations: 1 x Deluxe Room for 1 night on a half board basis

Day 2 - Chyulu Hills

This morning you will be driven to Wilson Airport to fly by shared charter to Ol Donya Lodge.

On arrival at Ol Donyo Lodge's airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp.

Ol Donyo Lodge

Ol Donyo Wuas lies in the foothills of the Chyulu Range, halfway between Tsavo and Amboseli in a concession area of 300,000 acres, communal Masai owned land, which is also part of the Amboseli eco-system.

The open plains, rolling Chyulu Hills and snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro invoke images of Africa as it was in the earlier part of the last century; abundant game and Masai herdsmen living as nature determined they should in this unspoilt corner of Kenya.

The lodge consists of eight cottages and a beautiful, centrally positioned mess/dining room. All cottages have en-suite bathrooms, electric lighting and a veranda with panoramic views of the plains and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Anton and Emma Childs are your hosts and a friendly crew of Kenyans are there to organise the daily activities, to ensure everything runs smoothly, and to provide high standards of cuisine and personal service.

Day 5 - Laikipia

Today you will fly from Donya to Borana (via Nairobi) on a shared charter flight.

On arrival at Borana, you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp.

Borana

With the snow-tipped peaks and glaciers of Mount Kenya to the south and a panorama of mountains and desert to the north, Borana provides an idyllic setting for any African experience.

The grandfather of the present owners of Borana fell in love with the wilderness and soul enriching isolation of this land. In building the lodge, the Dyers took care not to lose this while ensuring that the Lodge offers the ultimate in luxury and comfort. All cottages are entirely secluded and have private views, from both bedroom and bathroom, of the valley below. The Lodge is designed to work in harmony with the landscape and is created from local, sustainable building materials. It enjoys an idyllic setting, 17 miles north of the equator and 6,000 feet above sea level, and is free from the malarial mosquito and the nights are cool. All areas of the Lodge overlook a lake that is a popular watering hole for the local animals so there is constant activity for guests to watch. Take a guide and walk down to the dam to enjoy a close-up view of elephants swimming!

During a good afternoon on Borana, you might see 23 different kinds of animals. Around 300 elephants roam freely across the land. Borana has a dozen matriarch cows with radio collars in the Laikipia area so that they can monitor their movements. One matriarch took her extended family of sixty for 92 miles in one week.

Room: 1 x Suite on all inclusive basis for 3 nights

Day 8 - Masai Mara

Today you will fly by shared, light-aircraft charter from Laikipia to the Masai Mara.

On arrival at Masai Mara airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp.

Mara Plains Camp

Imagine a camp set right in the heart of some of the greatest predator country in Africa. That is Mara Plains Camp, located on the northern border of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in the Olare Orok Conservancy. Rarely a night passes without lion roaring nearby, while leopard are regularly found to wander through the camp and cheetah have established territories on the savannah off the main area.

Mara Plains Camp is a small, high quality, seven-roomed camp under canvas and on raised decks with sweeping views across Kenya's notable savannahs. It is among the smallest and most personal camps in the Mara region. As one of just three camps currently operating within the Conservancy, which boasts the region's lowest vehicle density, no mini-buses and only one guest room per 700 acres. It is possible to avoid the high tourist density of the Masai Mara Game Reserve proper, if desired.

No other camp in the greater Masai Mara Game Reserve or Olare Orok Conservancy has the privilege of traversing opportunities of Mara Plains Camp. Guests are able to traverse three areas as part of their stay at Mara Plains.

Mara Plains offers possibly the widest range of activities anywhere in the greater Masai Mara - game drives, quality night drives, nature walks with armed guides, balloon safaris (at extra cost), local village visits (authentic) and unrivalled access to superior wildlife habitat.

Room: 1 x Tented Suite on all inclusive basis for 3 nights
