Selous Game Reserve
Covering 21,000 square miles of pristine wilderness, the Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest of its type in the world.
The reserve was designated a UNESCO world heritage site because of its diversity of wildlife and undisturbed wilderness. The park is not accessible during the rainy season, and the lodges and camps close from March to June. Selous Game Reserve is known for its big elephant herds, walking safaris, and wilderness.
Comprised of a wide variety of habitats, including dense woodlands, swamps, and grasslands, the Selous Game Reserve is home to hundreds of exotic animals, including elephant, hippo, crocodile, cheetah, and the elusive black rhino.
Due to its high concentrations of wildlife, Selous Game Reserve offers visitors on their Tanzania safari vacation the opportunity to embark on exhilarating game drives, walking safaris, and boat safaris.
